Management by 2005
- High percentages of inappropriate utilization of health care
services currently exist:
- 43-75% of emergency room visits are inappropriate
- 15-25% of physician office visits are inappropriate
- Huge opportunities for improvement in major medical and
disease management are apparent.
- Utilization is influenced much more by perceptions, attitudes and
values (42%) than morbidity (6-14%)
